Jack Lumsdaine is an Australian vaudeville performer, radio announcer and entertainer, songwriter and composer. Lumsdaine enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force in September 1915. According to his entry in the Australian Dictionary of Biography, Lumsdaine 'served briefly in the Middle East and for a year in France where he was reputedly gassed; hence the sobriquet "Whispering Baritone".'

The Australian Dictionary of Biography also records Kenneth Slessor writing of Lumsdaine's funeral; 'Policemen and tramguards saluted and the traffic was stopped by the crowds in George Street'. Lumsdaine's daughter Thora Lumsdaine (later Twohill) was also an actor and wrote radio plays. Thora Lumsdaine co wrote a radio program the 'Radio Pie' show with her father.
