BiographyHistory

Maher Abou Elsaoud has worked as a factory worker, storeman, kitchen hand, cook and security guard. His work in Arabic has sold tens of thousands of copies throughout the Middle East. As well as writing short stories and novels, Abou Elsaoud has made two short films and a documentary film about cultural differences in Australia. In 2010 he was in Egypt working on a script for the movie adaptation of his novel The Legend of Schneider (اسطورة شنيدر). The shooting of the film was disrupted by Egypt's Arab Spring, during which Abou Elsaoud wrote for newspapers, magazines and on Facebook [From Author's blurb, Cairo, Paris, Melbourne].
