BiographyHistory

Kitty Shannon was the daughter of London-based portrait painter, Sir James Jebusa Shannon (1862-1923). According to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, she sat regularly as a subject of her father's paintings, including the portrait, Black and Silver (ca.1910).

  • The June 1933 issue of The Home briefly notes that Mrs Walter Keigwin (Miss Kitty Shannon) 'has written a book'. For My Children contains 'reminiscences of her life, not forgetting her home in Bellevue Hill, Sydney, when her husband's business interests with Orme, Keigwin & Co. took them to Australia. Hutchinson is publishing Mrs Walter Keigwin's book and it will contain some of her clever illustrations as well as her late father's portraits.'
