BiographyHistory

Djambidj singer and ritual leader in north-central Arnhem Land, Frank Malkorda grew up in Arnhem Land in the Blyth River region. His father was Nakarra and his mother a member of the Anbarra people. Together with Frank Gurrmanamana (q.v.), Malkorda recorded Djambitj : An Aboriginal Song Series from Northern Australia, songs from the people of the Blyth River near Maningrida. Djambitj is a group of thematically associated songs which have the actions and characteristics of the Djambidj spirits as their subjects.
