'Grit Theatre is an independent theatre ensemble committed to the production of new works. We aim to redefine the art of storytelling; removing the pretension and artifice frequently associated with stage acting by use of experimental and non-traditional performance creation methodology.

At Grit Theatre we are determined to create an artistic milieu which allows for non-traditional theatre to extend beyond the immediate theatre community; launching a dialogue on what theatre is and can be in the minds of Melbourne's broad and diverse public. We endeavor to leave a lingering impression on our audience members, one which will carry through into their daily lives.

We facilitate the advancement of the theatrical craft through both a body of work devised by the core performance ensemble as well as invited writers and artists. We invest in the development of emerging theatre practitioners as well as utilizing that of established talent, with a particular focus on Melbourne writers and performers.'
