BiographyHistory

Sharon Payne is a Badjula woman from Queensland who moved to Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, in 1986. She has worked in the areas of Aboriginal affairs, community organisation, aged care, child care, stolen generations, youth initiatives and family violence. Sharon Payne also worked for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission and '... has a degree in law from the Australian National University, a Bachelor of Arts and qualifications in Aboriginal cultural studies and cross-cultural training. Her other interests, such as caring for country, cooking, gardening and bushwalking, help to balance her academic pursuits while providing inspiration and subject matters for stories.'
