BiographyHistory

Rutter has worked as a drug and alcohol counsellor for Bathurst Aboriginal Health Service, and as Chairman of the West Wyalong Land Council. Rutter's parents averted the removal of their children by frequently moving and avoiding missions and towns.

Rutter's story was recorded by the National Library of Australia for the Bringing Them Home oral history project and appeared in the associated publication Many Voices: Reflections on experiences of Indigenous child separation, edited by Doreen Mellor and Anna Haebich (2002).
