BiographyHistory

Before emigrating to Australia, Maria Eliana Rojas studied in la Escuela de Bellas Arts, la Universidad de Chile. In the 1990s, in the Wollongong area, she published a monthly magazine in Spanish of commentary, humour and advice that had sixty subscribers. From 1993 to 1995 the magazine was titled 'Informative Spanish Ladies Group' and from 1995 to 1998 it was titled 'Spanish Ladies Magazine', the final issue of which appeared in September 1998. Since 1998 Rojas has written numerous volumes of poetry and short stories. Her stories have won prizes from several Spanish language associations, including the Uruguayan Social and Sporting Club (2002, Sydney), Grupo Literario Palabras (2002, Sydney) and Comite Coordinador Chileno (2003, Melbourne).
