BiographyHistory

Daughter of George Boyce Allen, an Australian lawyer, Marian Allen moved with her family to England probably in the early 1900s. At first she lived in Oxford, but later moved to London. In addition to illustrating her own books, Allen illustrated a number of titles by other authors (e.g. Compton Mackenzie's Santa Claus in Summer, 1931) and contributed to a number of annuals, including Joy Street and The Musical Box Annual.
