BiographyHistory

Alexander McNicol was ordained as a Presbyterian minister on the 18th of June 1850, soon after his arrival in Australia. He was a resident minister throughout country Victoria for thirty years, including Bacchus Marsh (1850-1851), Geelong (1851-1856), again at Bacchus Marsh (1856-1859), Rushworth, Whroo and Murchison (1859-1861), Donnybrook/Kalkallo and Wallan Wallan (1861-1872), Piggoreet (1872-1876), Bright (1876-1878) and the Moulamein preaching centre in New South Wales, where he was inducted as the resident minister in 1878 and resigned in 1880. That year he was declared an emeritus member of the Presbytery of Castlemaine.
