Listed in New Zealand National Bibliography. A Treasury of Colonial Poetry (personality file) LB 12/8/04 (Known non-Australian -- although he published quite a lot of poetry in the Bulletin) I sighted one of his poetry collections, "Heather and Fern," and there was no Australian content or connection. The writer explicitly identifies himself in this collection both with Scotland and New Zealand, but never with Australia. BM 18/05/05

BiographyHistory

John Liddell Kelly was a New Zealand writer, originally from Scotland, who published some of his poetry in the Bulletin. Kelly married his cousin, Jane Caldow in 1870. Together they had seven daughters and four sons. (Only four of the daughters survived.) Kelly left Scotland for New Zealand in 1880.
