BiographyHistory

Martha Richardson was educated at California State University in Los Angeles. After graduating she worked as a school teacher. In June 1985 she married an Australian and then emigrated to Victoria in August 1990. Her work has been widely published in journals and she has been awarded several literay prizes. In 1996 she and her husband were living in Mildura, on the River Murray. In 1997 she was a guest reader at the National Poetry Festival in Melbourne. Following her death, the Ballarat Writing Council established the Martha Richardson Medal in her memory.
