BiographyHistory

The McPherson Media Group is an independent rural and regional publishing group comprising newspaper, magazine and online publishing, newspaper and magazine printing, commercial sheet-fed printing, and marketing and design services.

The McPherson family has owned the Shepparton News since 1888; it is the oldest family-owned newspaper group in Australasia and one of just three independent groups publishing daily newspapers. A number of other regional and rural newspapers have been added to the Group during the past 40 years. They include: the Riverine Herald (Echuca), Seymour Telegraph, Cobram Courier, McIvor Times (Heathcote), Pastoral Times (Deniliquin), Benalla Ensign, Euroa Gazette, Southern Riverina News (Finley), Kyabram Free Press and the Campaspe Valley News (Rochester).

The Country News (Goulburn Valley), is included as an insert in each of the MMG newspapers. Aimed at the farming community in the Goulburn Valley and surrounding regions, it has an audited circulation of 55,000.
