Sundowner Sheila, F. Gwynplaine MacIntyre , single work short story science fiction
Bodger and Dickie are com-pozzies: vat-grown organisms designed to terraform a hot planet orbiting a distant sun. They possess the composite memories of several dead humans (Australians, in their case), and form a working team until they both fall in love with the mysterious 'Sundowner Sheila', who has her own emotional baggage.
