Rita Stella Galieh is an Australian with an English, Scottish and Jewish heritage who has worked as a ceramic artist before turning to writing. While studying at Sydney's National Art School she became a committed Christian, and her belief has had a significant influence on her books. She published her first work, Fire in the Rock in 2007 and since then has completed her Victoriana Trilogy (initially known as the Watermark Women series).

Galieh and her husband, George (violin) have formed a musical ministry which includes performances of their original songs.
