BiographyHistory

Glen Ella and his brothers, Mark his twin and Gary all represented Australia in Rugby Union. Glen started playing rugby at Matraville High School, and soon represented New South Wales in schoolboy rugby. In 1982 Ella made his Test debut for Australia against Scotland at Ballymore Stadium in Brisbane. In 1983 he played his second match before making his final appearances in 1985.

Glen began his coaching career in 1995, when he was assistant coach for the Wallabies during the 1995 Rugby World Cup in South Africa, and coached the Stourbridge Rugby Union team in England for six months. In 1996, Ella also coached the Brumbies in Canberra, and the Australian Sevens, a tournament that was part of the IRB Sevens World Series.

In 2009, Ella after serving as assistant coach for the Wallabies, and Canada national rugby union team ahead of their 2007 Rugby World Cup campaign, he was appointed to a four-man Fiji Rugby Union selection panel.
