ScreenLit
The Australian Film and Television Resource
  • History

  • ScreenLit is the outcome of the Australian Film and Television Resource (AFTR) project, which was established with a view to incorporating scripts and screenplays into the record of the working life of Australian writers. The impact of this project has been to more overtly and accurately reflect within AustLit the significant role that writers of Australian films and television programs play in helping to express ideas about Australian people, identities, and behaviour.

The Australian Film and Television Resource project began in 2009 with the expansion of the existing 1,100 AustLit work records designated film/television. These records have been restructured to align with the changing needs of the research community.

The establishment of ScreenLit was funded by The University of Queensland’s Major Equipment and Infrastructure grant and by support from UQ's Faculty of Arts. The Australian Research Council also supported the project in 2010 through its Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities Scheme. ScreenLit’s further development was supported by the ARC-funded Discovery Project, DP130101455 'Media Transformation in its Australian and International Contexts: Analysis and Theory-building' by Prof. Tom O'Regan.
