BiographyHistory

'Order By Numbers was a collective of theatre workers that put on three shows during 1985 and 1986 - A Few Short Wicks in Paradise, Tall Tales From the Altered State and Casuaties written for the Queensland Nurses Union.'

Order By Numbers existed briefly but burned brightly with passion and indignation. Their history captured the anger and frustration of life under a repressive political regime Challenging the Centre (back cover).

  • Order By Numbers and Teatro Unidad y Liberacion, a bilingual Spanish/English performance group, had a number of members in common. Both groups were also 'administered under an incorporated body called The New Actors Company.' Hugh Watson and Penny Glass further note:

    Although the shows [staged by Order By Numbers and Teatro Unidad y Liberacion] all had political intentions, and although the majority of people involved were ex-members of the Popular Theatre Troupe, these projects were radically different and style from the old Troupe shows ('Order By Numbers,' p.91).
