AbstractHistoryArchive Description

Gonzo / is about teenage boys and porn – specifically, how often they watch it, who they watch it with, and why.

In Gonzo, four teenage boys will get up close and personal to candidly reveal their relationship with porn. They’ll divulge alarming and uncensored perspectives that will make your jaw drop, as we delve into a squeamish – but long overdue – conversation about how internet porn
is affecting adolescent boys.

Set to be our most talked-about show of the year, Gonzo lays bare the facts of modern life in the age of instant access to ‘adults-only’ zones. We suggest you leave your preconceptions at the door as Gonzo / pulls back the covers on teenage boys and porn.' (Production summary)

'Whenever there's a story about teenage boys and porn, the panic button is pressed, and the last voice heard is that of the boys themselves. Performed by a quartet of high-school-age actors, Gonzo offers a neat antidote through savvy and illuminating devised theatre, incorporating insights, experiences and confessions from their cohort obtained through an anonymous survey. ...'

'Young men’s use of pornography has been the focus of considerable debate, if not anxiety and moral panic, in recent years. Recent incidents such as the high school “porn ring” have in many respects fuelled these anxieties around the impacts that near-ubiquitous access to pornography has on boys and young men, particularly when it comes to issues regarding sexual violence and consent. ...'
