Comments

Christina Hunt is the researcher for the ABC Television Rockhampton Project. With co-operation from the ABC and Central Queensland University, the Project has been unearthing the history and community connection of ABC Television in the Rockhampton region, and documenting the stories and recollections of those who worked there from its inception in December 1963.

The footage found by the project is being transferred from the original large Umatic Tapes to BetaVideoUmatic (BVU), a smaller format still used by the ABC. Information about the footage, photographs, and graphics found will be placed in an ABC database (no online access at this point). Hunt is the first contact person for the collection. Besides documentation and content information, she can also provide identification of archival tape items. The transferred archival items are stored at the ABC Rockhampton Quay Street building. Requests to access to view the BVU tapes must be approved by the ABC and follow ABC archival procedure.

Hunt is also conducting doctoral research into the working lives of four early ABC documentary filmmakers.
