Newspapers:
- All editions of the "Canberra Times" from its founding in 1926 to the present; until 2005, hard copies in bound volumes; from 2006 digital; and all years on microfilm, 1926-present
- "Canberra Chronicle", hard copy editions only, 2004-present
- Photographs: many of those published in the "Canberra Times" (years preceding the late 1960s are less complete); in hard copy until 1997; since then digital. Photos published in the "Canberra Chronicle", digitally stored and filed with those of the "Canberra Times"
- Clippings files: from the "Canberra Times" and other major newspapers, sometimes also including background documents provided by the entity reported on, 1960s-October 2007

The archive is not equipped to handle researchers working on major projects. It can help with limited requests only.
Editions of the "Canberra Times" from 1926 to 1954 are available online through the National Library of Australia digitised newspapers website (http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper). The paper is also available in hard copy and/or microfilm in numerous libraries, as well as online through library databases.
Some older photos from the "Canberra Times" are held by the National Library of Australia or the ACT Heritage Library. A selection of photos published since 2006 can be viewed online at the paper?s website (http://www.canberratimes.com.au/multimedia). Photos from 2003 to the present can be viewed online and purchased at http://www.bicaprolab.com.au/photosales/index.php
The Canberra & District Historical Society also holds a sound recording from 1976 detailing the history of the Canberra Times and its proprietors, the Shakespeare family, from the perspective of founder Arthur Shakespeare's wife Helen. See http://www.canberrahistory.org.au for details.
