The Australian Literature Resource
Reference management software (also known as "personal citation management software") allows you to sort, organise and retrieve information gained from your AustLit research to assist you in:
- Compiling bibliographies in a variety of publication styles
- Citing sources as you write
- Creating reading lists for courses
AustLit records can be output in a Tagged Text format suitable for importing into a citation manager. See Output Formats for AustLit Records and Printing, Saving, Emailing or Exporting AustLit Records.
EndNote and RefWorks are two examples of reference management software. Other examples include BiblioExpress, Biblioscape, ProCite and Reference Manager.
Import filters are connection files that allow the direct import of records from a database into the citation manager. Filters are currently available for importing Austlit Tagged Text output into the EndNote and RefWorks citation managers. These filters were developed with the valuable asssistance of John East from the University of Queensland Library.
RefWorks provides a filter on its site. It is called 'Australian Literature' and can be selected from their import filter file menu.
For EndNote, click on the following link to download the filter, which you should save to your EndNote 'Filters' folder:
